Hi! I'm Callie - an adoring wife, imperfect mom, rookie boss, follower of Christ, and a wannabe athlete.
I am a Florida girl who loves sunshine, Instagram, and coffee. And I love to write.
I remember falling in love with writing in the third grade. My teacher saw something in me and cultivated that gift by challenging and encouraging me to write. I started journaling around that time, and it's a habit I still maintain more than 25 years later.
That love of writing served me well as I earned my B.A. in International Studies from the University of North Carolina, and a law degree from Stetson College of Law. It was during law school that I began to develop my speaking skills, especially the art of speaking persuasively. I spent countless hours perfecting that craft as part of both the Trial Team and Moot Court.
After a brief stint practicing family law, I stepped into my first leadership role on staff at the law school. I worked with law students, and even led a group called the "Student Leadership Development Committee" - but in hindsight, I knew very little about leadership.
I became the Executive Director of a small non-profit in 2012 and have been baptized into the world of ministry and leadership. Unfortunately, I learned many lessons the hard way, but God is faithful and does not waste a thing! And by His grace, the organization grew tremendously over those six years.
In September 2018, I stepped away from my role as Executive Director and joined my parents at the Twig, an organization they founded to help children in foster care. I serve as the Director of Programs, dreaming big about the ways we can encourage and inspire children in foster care.
My husband and I live in Venice, Florida with our three children - Patrick (8), Grace (7), and David (3). It's a busy life, but it's a good life. And I am thankful for it.
I envision this space as a place where I can share my thoughts - on life, leadership, faith, and family. Thanks for coming along for the ride.
