On Purpose For a Purpose

October 12, 2017

I believe that our life fundamentally changes when we begin to believe that we were created on purpose and for a purpose.

Our existence is not an accident.

We were uniquely designed by an intentional God with our particular characteristics. When we start to understand that God wired us a certain way, we begin to see how He desires to use those "quirks" in a way that brings Him glory.

We stop trying to be someone we're not.

We stop believing we aren't good enough.

We stop telling ourselves that we don't measure up.

God didn't create us to be like anyone else. Our fingerprints are unique, and so are our personalities.

Think about it this way: In all of history, there has never been another individual with the same combination of skills, abilities, and experiences that you possess. Never.

And that, my friend, is not an accident.

It is time to stop looking around at everyone else's gifts and abilities, wishing they were yours. God created them that way, on purpose for a purpose. And He created you the way you are, on purpose for a purpose.

Paul says is this way, "There is one body, but it has many parts. But all its parts make up one body. It is the same way with Christ....Suppose the foot says, 'I am not a hand. So I don't belong to the body.' By saying this, it cannot stop being part of the body. And suppose the ear says, 'I am not an eye. So I don't belong to the body.' By saying this, it cannot stop being part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, how could it hear? If the whole body were an ear, how could it smell? God has placed each part in the body just as He wanted it to be. If all the parts were the same, how could there be a body? As it is, there are many parts. But there is only one body." (1 Corinthians 12:12-20)

If you are an ear, be the best possible ear you can be. Stop apologizing for the fact that you're not a hand. God didn't create you to be that. Lean into becoming the person He has created you to be.

Or saying it another way, if you are a good listener, be the best listener you can possibly be. Realize that the world needs the gifting God has given you. The world needs more good listeners! If God has wired you to be a good listener, and yet you are constantly trying to be a hand, you are robbing the world of God's intentional design.

You were created on purpose and for a purpose. Believe it and live that way.

Because the world needs you to be who God has created you to be.
